Croydon Harrier’s under-15 girl’s team took the spoils at the Surrey women’s league at Esher Common this weekend, and re-wrote the club history books in the process.
FULL RESULTS Holly Haile led the charge in runners-up spot in 15:01 over the 4.2km course. It adds to her runners-up spot at Farthing Downs and her win at Lightwater Park in this league. She was well supported by her colleagues Emily Howe (15th, 17.47), Naomi Carty (16th, 18.47) and Cora Sexton (20th, 19.32). Stevie Lawrence (who has placed fourth and sixth this season in the Surrey league) was esent the wrong way by the course marshals and was back in 21st. It is the first time in over two decades that a Croydon girl’s team have triumphed in the team race in the Surrey league. Well done all! They finish seventh overall in the final league standings. The under-13 girls also got in on the action over their 2km course, with Josie Kavanagh (eighth, 8.50), Ellie McCormack (20th, 9.28) and Phillipa Hughes (26th, 9.42) flying the flag. The trio ensured Croydon placed sixth on the day and fifth in the overall standings. WELL DONE ALL, thanks for your support this season.
