Since our formation in 1920, 60 Croydon Harriers have become fully fledged international athletes.
We currently have two full internationals with team GB, as we move ever closer to London 2012. And what's more, we are confident of continuing the tradition of producing such high calibre athletes long into the future.
Martyn Rooney has come through the ranks here at Croydon from an early age. First joining as a young athlete, Martyn was originally a middle distance and cross-country runner before moving to the 400m which he is known for today.
Always touted for success from an early age, Martyn's first international competition came at the 2005 European Junior Championships where he won the silver medal, and formed part of the victorious 4x400m relay team.
From thereon, success has come at a staggering rate. Winning the U20 AAA Championships (2005), AAA Championships (2008) and European Cup (2008) competitions, while also representing team GB at the World Championships (2005-9).
Arguably the two biggest highlights of Rooney's career so far, are finishing 6th at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, and helping the 4x400m relay team to silver in the 2009 World Championships.

Tasha Danvers-Smith joined Croydon Harriers as a young athlete and showed promise from the outset. Dominant over the hurdles, Danvers-Smith was natural talent, setting numerous club records.
After representing Great Britain for the best part of a decade, her greatest achievements include a silver medal winning performance at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and the bronze medal she won at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
